UK government bans GMOs from its own Parliament restaurants while telling public to embrace genetic poisons

By Jonathan Benson

Since the mid-to-late 1990s when genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) were first being thrust onto the market by governments working in lockstep with the biotechnology industry, the U.K. Parliament has effectively barred their use in all food items served to government officials at Parliament restaurants, according to new reports. This, despite the fact that prominent elected officials in the U.K. are right now pushing GMOs on a public that is largely opposed to them, effectively shining the spotlight on their own insane hypocrisy with regards to the GMO issue. ‘Bedroom tax’ will hit single parents and disabled people hardest

(Guardian) Single parents with spare bedrooms in social housing will soon be around £700 poorer per year.

Nearly a quarter of those due to be affected by the so-called “spare bedroom tax” will be single parents, according to new research.

Government figures show that 150,000 of the 660,000 people expected to have their benefits reduced because they have at least one unused room are lone parents under 60, Labour claim.

The average amount taken from each person per week is £13, which amounts to £676 a year, according to the party’s analysis.

The claim comes amid new concerns that disabled people will also be disproportionately affected by the change in benefit rules, due to be introduced in April.

New rules state that housing benefit and universal credit claimants deemed to have one unused bedroom in their council or housing association home will lose 14% of their housing benefit and those with two or more will lose 25%.

The Department for Work and Pensions estimates that 660,000 people living in social housing will lose an average of £728 per year as a result of the change.

Labour’s shadow work and pensions secretary Liam Byrne said: “David Cameron promised to stand up for parents, but his bedroom tax is a £100m tax bombshell for single mums and dads.

“The bedroom tax has now been exposed as a chaotic disaster, but it’s not too late for the prime minister to do the decent thing, admit he has got this wrong and think again.”

The planned changes will also affect hundreds of thousands of disabled people, according to the National Housing Federation.

A fund to help people eligible for disability living allowance was given a £30m boost this year by Cameron. But an analysis of figures by the federation claims that this will leave a £100m shortfall which will have to be made up by claimants.

David Orr, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, said: “The bedroom tax is ill-thought and unfair as thousands of disabled people will have no choice but to cut back further on food and other expenses in order to stay in their own homes.”

UK to US on Piers Morgan: Sorry, no returns accepted

(Digital Journal) -British citizens, in response to the pro-gun advocates’  petition wanting Piers Morgan to be deported from the US, are begging the UK  government not to take him back.

In the wake of the public outrage that followed after the  tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, CNN host Piers Morgan became an  enemy of pro gun advocates across the United States.  Due to remarks made to a  gun rights advocate on his show “Piers Morgan Tonight,” other gun rights  activists have sent an online  petition to the White House that demands Piers Morgan be deported from the  United States.  They accuse Morgan of being hostile towards the United States  Constitution.  However, Morgan was amused by the idea of the petition to deport  him.

So far, Politico reports that the  number of signatures  for the petition is almost 66K.  In short, the number of people wanting  Piers Morgan continues to climb.  However, Morgan is simply telling those people  to “bring it on.”

The people of the United Kingdom, have  been made aware of the petition to the White House.  Responding to the  petition to the White House, the British are saying this: No thanks, you can  keep Piers Morgan.  In this respect, the UK is telling the pro gun advocates “do  not pass GO, do not collect $500” in response to the petition to boot Morgan out  of the country.

In response, citizens of the UK have  petitioned the British government not to take Morgan back.  According to their  petition, it claims that America wanted Piers Morgan.  The petition pleads with  British Home Secretary Theresa May to not allow Morgan to be deported back to  Great Britain.  Apparently, it seems that Morgan isn’t well-liked in the UK.

The British gave their  reasons that Morgan should remain in the US.  The  first reason was because of the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution which  calls forth the right of free speech.  The second reason is that “nobody” in the  UK wants Morgan to return.  The third reason is because they find it humorous.   For the third reason, they are anxious for the hilarity that ensues when many  pro-gun Americans get angry.

In short, pro-gun activists want the US  to get rid of Piers Morgan; at the same time, citizens of the UK don’t  want Morgan to return and wish for him to stay in the US.
